Vaudit User Exclusions Methodology

This article explains how we calculate exclusion eligibility, how your IP lists are generated, and how our exclusion engine protects you from the worst actors before they drain your budget.

Overview

Vaudit’s User Exclusions feature leverages our proprietary invalid traffic (IVT) engine to detect, prioritize, and remove the most damaging sources of non-compliant traffic. By using IP-level intelligence, we ensure your campaigns are protected from recurring fraud signals without overblocking or compromising reach.

What Are User Exclusions?

User Exclusions are a feature inside Vaudit’s Pre-Bill Charge Removal Suite. They allow you to block known invalid users, identified by IP address, from receiving ads on your campaigns. These users may exhibit traits such as:

  • Bot Activity

  • Out-of-Geo Clicks

  • Zero-Second Visits

  • High-Frequency Clicks

  • Session Violations

Activating User Exclusions prevents these users from being served your ads, reducing ad waste and protecting ROAS.

How Vaudit Scores & Excludes Users

Step 1: Real-Time IP Detection

Every IP interacting with your campaigns is continuously audited. Vaudit analyzes click patterns and behavioral anomalies across 5 core Audit Vectors:

Audit Vector Weight Detection Signal
Non-Human Activity 30% Headless browsers, automated clicks, zero conversions
Geo Violations 30% Users outside your geo-targeted campaign areas
Zero-Second Visits 20% Bounce before page load, often bots or spoofers
High-Frequency Clicks 10% Same IP clicking multiple times rapidly
Session Violations 10% Bounce anomalies, exit timing, and churn behavior

Each IP is given a Suspicious Score between 0 and 1. Scores above 0.70 (70%) are considered high-risk.

Step 2: Prioritizing Financial Impact

Among all high-risk IPs (Suspicious Score ≥ 0.70), Vaudit ranks by estimated financial damage:

Estimated Loss = (Invalid Clicks × Avg CPC)

We then select the Top 500 IPs for automatic exclusion — based on both fraud risk and cost impact. This ensures the list remains optimized for maximum savings without overblocking.

Why Only 500 IPs?

  • Google Ads limits IP exclusion lists to 500 per campaign.

  • A smaller list ensures faster syncing and avoids API throttling.

  • Vaudit refreshes your list every night to reflect only recent, verified threats.

Older IPs are removed automatically, and new ones are added based on rolling 30-day analysis.

How to Activate User Exclusions

  1. Login to your Vaudit Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Exclusions tab.

  3. Review campaigns listed with:

    • IP Count

    • Suspicious Score

    • Estimated Savings

  4. Enable individual exclusions using the toggle switch per campaign.

  5. Or, apply all exclusions using the “Activate Exclusions” button.

Once activated, Vaudit will block the most harmful flagged users from seeing your ads.

Data Freshness & Continuous Optimization

  • Exclusion lists update every 24 hours.

  • Suspicious scores recalculate using recent traffic patterns.

  • New fraud trends are captured using adaptive audit logic.

  • Older or lower-impact IPs are automatically removed.

Extend Protection with Cloudflare (Optional)

Want to exclude more than 500 IPs? Extend protection to your website or mobile layer:

  • Download the full IP CSV list from your dashboard.

  • Upload it to Cloudflare or a similar WAF/CDN platform.

  • Block all flagged IPs across your entire funnel, not just ad delivery.

How We Don’t Overblock

Vaudit doesn’t block traffic just because it looks suspicious. Instead, we apply:

  1. Behavioral Scoring (70%+ Suspicious Score)

  2. Financial Prioritization (Estimated CPC Loss)

  3. Top 500 Exclusion Threshold

This ensures precision: blocking what’s harmful, observing what’s questionable, and preserving reach for valid users.

Summary

Vaudit’s User Exclusions are:

  • Real-Time: Updated daily with fresh IP intelligence

  • Financially Prioritized: Focused on high-loss threats

  • Audit-Driven: Rooted in behavioral signals across 5 vectors

  • Smartly Limited: Capped at 500 IPs to stay efficient and compliant

By enabling exclusions, you reduce invalid charges before they occur which safeguards ROAS.
